Edward M. Kennedy

Wed Aug 26, 2009, 7:54 PM
As a resident of the great state of Massachusetts, this is an incredibly devastating day for me and for my fellow Bay Staters. There's no question in my mind that there may never again be a senator or a person so dedicated to his state and his country, or someone so looked up to and for such good reason.

Edward M. Kennedy is, without question, one of the greatest Senators this country has ever seen, and maybe ever will see.

No matter what anyone might think of him or say about him or how much they may judge him on past mistakes, it is absolutely undeniable how fortunate this country and it's people were to have him. No one can say that he wasn't a dedicated man. He spent his life giving a voice to those who didn't have one, helping those who needed it most, and facing insurmountable odds to pick himself back up and rise above to go on to inspire those who hadn't believed he could.

Many people, including myself, have never known the US Senate without Ted Kennedy, which makes this day that much more difficult. This man dedicated 47 years of his 77 year life to the Senate, his state, his country, and the world. He made more of an impact in those 47 years than many presidents ever did.

To many, Teddy, even in death, seems larger than life. He overcame and accomplished more than anyone else could ever dream of. He was a man tirelessly dedicated to everything he believed in and everyone who believed in him, as well as everyone who did not.

Like many Kennedy deaths, this changes things in such a way that is almost unimaginable, but we have no choice but to move on and not only remember him, because he deserves so much more than that, but to also never forget or take advantage of what he's done for us or how he changed his life to provide hope and inspiration to so many.

This is only my small dedication to this unbelievable American. There are infinite things that can be said about this man, but they won't even begin to describe what an incredible person he was, and always will be.

The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dreams shall never die.

Rest in peace, Teddy, and thank you for everything.
